From terrifying driving lessons with Sam, to studio kiss-a-thons…to Darren in a speedo, in public. It’s been quite a year on The Breakfast Stack!

Here are our top five moments from 2013 (in no particular order):

1. Sam ‘learns’ to drive

It all started in April.

There was skidding.

There was a gun.

There was a very scared Samson on this very unusual first driving lesson with Darren Maule...

Just in case you missed it in the video footage above, here's how completely scary Sam found the experience:

But, of course, Sam got his own back.

We think his second driving 'lesson' may have been even scarier than his first:

Despite some intervention from The Traffic Guy , Sam didn’t get his licence on his first attempt.

Dont worry, we still love you Sam!

2. Natarah finally releases her wedding pictures

Natarah Nadesan and her husband celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary in August.

Natarah shared some special moments from her wedding album with us, and looked back on what she says was the most amazing day of her life.

3. The Breakfast Stack gets X-rated

What would you do for three hours straight on The Breakfast Stack in order to win a trip for two to Mauritius? That’s the challenge that we put out, and young Shaun and Kaylee responded by getting steamy in studio… by kissing for three hours straight.

That's right, a three hour snog-fest. A gargantuan graunch session. Epic French connection.

Despite challenges from other contenders in the form of a (very) painful waxing session, a three-hour foot massage and a tattoo done in studio, the kissers won the grand prize.

4. Darren walks through Suncoast…in his speedo

Darren announced that if more than R300 000 was raised for Toy Story on Toy Story Corporate Day, he would walk through Suncoast Casino in a speedo. Guess what? The money was raised, and he did… Maybe some dares should never be accepted, or honoured?!

5. The President of the World, Nelson Mandela, passes away

Nelson Mandela’s passing away was the saddest day of the year for us, but to see how South Africa came together to celebrate and remember his life and legacy was incredibly moving and uplifting.

KZN woke up to the news on 6 December that our beloved Madiba had died the night before. With a very, very heavy heart  Darren had to deal with the question of how best to communicate this news to our listeners both in KZN and to a world in mourning.

“I really felt that my responsibility was to communicate his contribution to each of us personally, to the human race - irrespective of race, colour or creed - and to the world - and then to celebrate that fact,” Darren wrote.
