KZN's top school sporting teams to represent the province at the National Schools' Sports Championships in Mangaung.
Later today KwaZulu-Natal’s top school sporting teams will travel to Mangaung in the Free State to compete against the best South African schools have to offer in the National Schools Sports Championships - an initiative of the National Minister of Sport and Recreation Fikile Mbalula, in partnership with his counterpart the National Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga.
KZN will pit its most determined and talented youth against other provincial hopefuls in a bid to secure the prestigious trophy for our province.
KwaZulu-Natal’s top school teams were selected from those who out-performed across all sporting codes at the Provincial Top Schools Tournament held at various sporting venues throughout Durban from 11-13 October.
It is hoped that the school sport programme will help unearth young talent that will see the country become among the best in the world.
Makhosi Khoza asked MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha to shed more light on this initiative.
Sibhidla-Saphetha also told Makhosi that softball was one of her favourite sports when she was younger.
