#StopTheKnot breaks the internet

'Ponytail bandits' Derick Watts and the Sunday Blues have caused outrage and racked up a couple million views over the past few days with their drive-by barber video, #StopTheKnot. Watch it here.

One of the latest male hair trends is the top knot with buzzed sides.

I guess the hipster look has upset quite a few people.

So much so that Derick Watts and the Sunday Blues (the comedy group from Cape Town - who brought you such gems as the Nicki Minaj Anaconda Fart Remix, and The Payday song) decided that the onus was on them to #StopTheKnot.

So they drove through a few suburbs and cut unsuspecting hipsters' top knots off.

Yes, they ambushed people and cut off their tiny little pony tails.

Don't believe me?

Well, watch the video for yourself:

As it turns out, the duo has since apologised and admitted that the video was staged. But not before it garnered a couple million views – and a whole lot of hate from all corners of the globe.

“The intended irony of the piece is that we'd be squarely classified hipsters ourselves for our appearance,” says Gareth Allison, one half of the Derick Watts duo. “People missed that, it should have been a straightforward clue as to the video’s validity. It was intriguing to experience the hate, outrage, threats and the calls for us to be brought to justice - and even jailed - for a hair-cutting video people thought was genuine. All this at a time when our country is going through one of the most turbulent times in its history.”

Nonetheless, if someone came out of the blue and cut my hair I would be LIVID.

But because it's not happening to me, it's funny!

I want to know from you, what trends do you think we should get rid of?
