Rory's moustache wins Movember accolades!
Updated | By Rory Petzer
It took some research, careful planning, the perfect costume, a dash of black moustache dye, and an evening in character, before Rory was unanimously voted by screaming revelers as their favourite contender in two categories.
This, at the Official Durban Movember Gala Parté at Beach Bums on Saturday.
"From the moment I arrived at the venue, I got into character. I became Freddie Mercury! Besides winning the awards, the highlight of the evening was being asked by Jack Parow to please be in a photo with him!" said Rory.
Rory walked away winning three categories: the Best Mo in Character Award, Ultimate Mo Award and of course, the big one: Durban's 2014 Man of Movember.
He will now go up against the respective winners from the Gala Partés in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Pretoria, after which South Africa's 2014 Man of Movember will be selected by an expert Movember panel.
If selected, Rory will represent the country and be in the running for the ultimate Movember honour: The International Man of Movember 2014.
Rory says he is really proud to be involved in raising awareness for testicular and prostate cancer, and will use his newly found title as much as possible to spread the word even more.
What do you think of Rory's chances? Do you think he has what it takes to represent Durban on the international stage?
