Rory ticks another one off the bucket list

Rory ticks another one off the bucket list

Shortly after arriving in Durban, I saw '90s South African rock outfit Squeal perform live. It was on my bucket list. During #SONA2015, I surprisingly managed to tick another one off that list. Out of nowhere.

I remember when I first arrived in Durban, and more specifically, at East Coast Radio, saying to  a few of my colleagues I really wanted to trend on Twitter.

It might seem silly, but it's MY bucket list!

I wanted to somehow see one of my tweets or hashtags or even my Twitter handle featuring as a trend somewhere in South Africa.

Now a trend is more often than not something which cannot be planned or orchestrated. It just happens.

Sort of like a midnight phone call from your mother-in-law. Or, like fishing in the dark.

You throw your line in the water (you tweet) now and then, and hopefully one day a big fish will bite, and you'll return home to feed your family. OK, I'm not sure how that last parts relates to Twitter, but just go with it, if you don't mind. I was on a roll.

Well, last night, during SONA, I threw my line in the water, and all of a sudden, it was attacked by hundreds of big fish. I couldn't reel in quick enough.

I did it. I finally trended on Twitter. OK, I trended in Cape Town, but I'm going to take it and run, if it's not too much to ask.

That's two items off the list in less than a year!

Durban, I've been here almost a year and you've been really good to me. I think I like you. I think I'd like to stay.

Do you have a bucket list? Have you ticked any off recently?
