Mom's horrible park experience
Updated | By Sihle Mthembu

Hi Jane
I recently visited a well known Durban park with my nephews. It was a lovely day out for us and it was nice to take them for a picnic to a clean, neat park...
I took the boys (aged 9 yrs old and 10 months old) to play on the swings and slides - we were all having a good time until...
I noticed a mother telling her daughter to URINATE on the sand in the play area - and this was not to the side either (although still not acceptable) but right in the middle of the play area.
She then wipes her little girl with the pants that the girl was wearing and puts it back on for her.
Needless to say my 9year old was very disgusted - and when I looked at this mother she asks what do I expect her to do.
I replied take the child to the toilet!
She told me that I must SHUT UP!
As a parent she should know better as she is exposing her little girl's private parts in a public area and urinating where other children play (barefoot) is unhygienic and just plain filthy.
Sadly I will not be visiting the play area again.
It is scary to know that their are parents like this roaming around. The same parents who thinks it's ok for their kids to ride around in the car without a seatbelt on. Shame on you, you obviously have no idea the impact and influence you have on your child, should they survive.
