This mom deserves a round of applause
Updated | By Rory Petzer
A Canadian mom has had enough of the unrealistic representation of women produced by traditional dolls. So, this mom now takes pre-loved dolls and gives them a personality.
Lizette Flores decided one day to take her daughter's dolls and re-make them into more realistic images of women.
The mother of three from Quebec in Canada founded Pixan Dolls in the process.
She says she wanted to teach her daughter to appreciate beauty in all of its forms.
Lizette gives secondhand dolls a new, more realistic life by styling their hair before removing the make up and creating a more natural look.
She says, "I try to give them a personality and also a heritage."
Lizette has created Cuban, Afghan-inspired and even an albino doll to teach children about diversity.
She explains, "The idea behind painting all of the skin imperfections is for girls to realise it is really not real to have a perfectly even skin tone."
Lizette also makes new, more comfortably fitting clothing for the dolls.
Is this not just one of the best ideas you've ever heard?
Lizette, we salute you and give you 100%!
