The lobola calculator!

Have you ever wondered how much your lobola would be? 

I found an app on the Google Play Store called the lobola calculator and it works out how much your lobola or dowry would be worth.

Obviously, this app is just for fun and laughs because lobola is a very carefully thought through process by the bride's family. 

As far as I know (and I'm no cultural expert), ilobolo is set at 11 cows for a bride who is not the daughter of a chief or king and then one cow is subtracted for every child she has out of wedlock. 

That is a basic outline, but every family has their demands. 

You have to also consider that there are other ceremonies aside from ilobolo that must be done. 

A lot of people often see the tradition of ilobolo as "buying the bride" - whereas it is actually a way to say thank you to the bride's family for raising makoti.

So I decided to have a bit of fun with the app and tried it out. 

Just for clarity: the weight is my pre-pregnancy weight, such as with the pants size, and a touch of narcissism in there too (how can you ask a girl how hot she is...I mean...cummaaaaaaaaan!).
