Communication has changed…

What did you do 20 years ago that you don’t do anymore? Mak, Gabriel and Natarah seem to agree that the way we communicate has changed...
We are very lucky that today we have numerous ways of communicating with others close to us and abroad!
Twenty years ago there was nothing like WhatsApp, Facebook, Email, Skype or Twitter.
Gabriel and Mak remember the good old days when the only source of communication was writing letters to their friends or family:
"Twenty years ago I wrote letters to my family, who were not living with me. Generally, there would be a two weeks to one month turnaround time between letters.
Phone calls were a luxury, as they were generally expensive if they were across provinces.
So if I wanted to visit my cousins, I would have to write them a letter, stating my day of visit months ahead, await their response and hopefully we'd agree on that date.
Otherwise, we would write back and forth for over three months, just to agree on a certain date." – Gabriel
"My source of communication 20 years ago was in the form of written letters.
Letters would have been passed down by a few hands before they got to the person who it was written for.
The trouble was even attempting to write a sentence that made any sense, thank goodness for the possibility of verbal communication" – Mak
"The reality that everything’s going digital really sank in for me this year when, after years and years of filling in a leave form on paper, I was told I didn’t have to do that anymore.
No, it’s not because I ran out out of leave days. It’s because we’re now doing it online.
So, if I want to apply for leave, I’ve got to send a request online, no physical interaction with the boss, and wait for a response." - Natarah
