Another road rage incident
Updated | By Staff Writer
A clip of a driver swerving and trying to push another vehicle off the road has surfaced. Have you ever been the victim of road rage?
Over the weekend, this footage of someone driving recklessly in an apparent road rage incident made its way around the interweb and into my hands.
It was captured via dashcam and shows the driver of a Ford Figo repeatedly blocking another driver from passing on the M1 in Johannesburg.
We don't know exactly what happened because the clip is only 30 seconds long, but the driver who filmed the footage told the Sandton Chronicle that he had used his wipers to clean his windscreen, and by mistake some dirt got flung onto the Figo.
He also claims that the driver of the Figo was on his cellphone at the time.
I must admit, I have the mouth of a sailor and normally when people do me wrong on the road I tend to let out a rather creative sentence to myself (although sometimes it is a little loud) - and I feel a whole lot better.
But I really don't have the time, nor the energy, to try and block someone from passing.
I do love drivers with manners. For example, if I let you in, say thank you. If you're trying to squeeze into the space in front of me, ask me (hoot, indicate etc.) don't just shove the nose of your car in front of mine.
I have been the victim of road rage before where I was driving back from Richards Bay and a driver kept trying to get me to move out of the right hand lane. Unfortunately I couldn't because there were cars in the left lane.
As soon as the cars on the left cleared, I moved out of the way only to have the driver of the other vehicle overtake me and then come right in front of me and attempt to dead brake. Thankfully I'm a pretty alert driver and I swerved into the right lane. He then came back in front of me and started throwing out cans of beer.
I saw an off-ramp and decided to take it so as to avoid any more drama.
The worst thing about this incident was that the gentleman was with his wife and three small children in the back, so not only was he putting my life in danger, but he was drinking and driving and putting his entire family at risk.
