9 and a 1/2 ways to enjoy Valentine’s for under R50
Updated | By tanstan fourie

Whether you plan to spend Valentine's Day with friends, family, or your partner, you don't have to spend a lot to make it memorable.
This is how you can still warm someone's heart on Valentine's Day without spending a lot of money.
1.Treat each other to a (do it yourself - at home) spa treatment.
Sunflower oil.
Bath towels over the dining room table, or kitchen table.
Load iPod with Barry White or Cafe Del Mar or Whale Songs and Pan Pipes (taste specific) Candles this year might not be optional
2.Go camping in the Garden.
Firewood
Marshmallows
Torch
Blanket
3.Build an indoor fort and tell ghost stories.
Chairs
Shelves
Sheets
Torch
4.Learn a dance together.
Hire a movie with 'That' dance scene and watch it over and over while learning the dance:
Scent of a Woman
Dirty Dancing
Footloose
Strictly Ballroom
Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
Silver linings Playbook
(Taste specific)
5.Spend the day on the Beach.
I'm amazed by how many people in KZN don't utilize our world class beaches.
You can walk on the beach
Collect shells
Snorkel
Or even have a rock skipping contest.
(Consider our new nude beach... You will be surprised how much you can learn to appreciate your partner by seeing for yourself how 'badly' you could have done)
6.Cheap cheap Arts and Culture:
Ask around. Many schools, community centre's and even shopping malls will have arts and culture exhibits for free. This extends to school plays, science expos and community art projects.
7.Break a record:
The Guinness book of records has tons and tons of silly records.
Read through them and try and break a few yourselves.
Most Ferrero Rocher chocolates eaten in one minute (7) Fastest 100 meters on a bouncy ball (space hopper) current record 30 seconds Fastest double duvet dressing (1 min 13 sec)
8.Go house hunting or test drive a car way outside your price range.
Dress up and fantasize.
9.Be a child again.
Go to an arcade, win tickets and redeem them for those terrible cheap toys and games. (Snakes and ladders is my favourite.)
1/2 switch off your phones, tablets and computers (one night only)
