KZN south coast bream action
Updated | By Andre Bloem
The latest Kingfisher angling update says that Hibberdene and Trafalgar have been producing some lovely size shad, with Trafalgar also producing some good size bronze bream. This bronze bream run should continue into August and September.
We have also received reports of bronze bream and shad success for anglers in the Margate area. Anglers lucky enough to fish in the evenings have also landed some nice kob on paddletail and chokka baits.
The action continues until Sunday at the Mr Price Pro Ballito Beach festival with world class surfing. There will also be free music concerts on Salt Rock beach both tonight and tomorrow night. Other attractions include BMX and skateboarding at the Extreme Park. Visit www.mrpricepro.com to plan your weekend.
Unfortunately, there aren’t any confirmed reports of sardine netting in KZN yet. It seems that most of the activity witnessed in our area has been mixed baitfish. Divers in the Transkei and East London have enjoyed some sardine action with all of the associated predators - so let us keep our fingers crossed that the sardine run will move further north soon.
Divers down on the south coast have something to smile about according to African Dive Adventures. They say the visibility at Protea Banks is back up to 25m and the water temperature is 22 degrees with lots of raggie sightings.
Although we have a cool, partly cloudy day on the cards for Durban today with onshore winds and a maximum temperature of 21 degrees, things are looking up this weekend with clear skies, sunshine, warm weather and light offshore winds predicted – so enjoy!
