Johnson emerges as US Ryder Cup powerhouse

Two-time major winner and current world number two Dustin Johnson emerged as Team USA's Ryder Cup powerhouse as he became the first American since 1979 to win all five points on offer as the Americans claimed a dominant 19-9 win over Europe.

Whistling Straits set-up perfectly for the American side who dominated from start to finish to end with the biggest winning margin since 1975.

Johnson partnered with Open champion Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffle for the four team matches before he beat Paul Casey one-up in Sunday's singles match.

He was quick to put praise on his playing partners and believes that his achievement was beyond his comprehension going into the tournament.

"I had good partners though," said Johnson via AFP. "You know, starting the week, if you had told me I was going to go 5-0-0, I probably would have said you were crazy," Johnson said. "I didn't think I was going to play five matches.

"Obviously, got off to a good start and had some good partnerships there with Collin and Xander, so captain just kept us rolling.

“I felt like the game was coming together," added Johnson. "Ryder Cup is always a fun week. "It's so much fun for us to come out and play golf like this just because we don't usually do it.

"It's obviously a lot more fun when you win," Johnson added.
