The Sharks will be playing in two competitions at the same time which has meant they will have a completely new coaching staff for the Currie Cup which is starting in January.

Fynn has filled the role of forwards coach for the Sharks in the past so he is familiar with the set-up and has been involved in the junior set-up at the Sharks for a number of years.

Former Sharks and Springbok legend JP Pietersen will begin his professional coaching journey as the assistant coach while specialist coaches Warren Whitely, John McFarland, Phiwe Nomlomo and Aksventi Giorgadze will coach both Sharks teams.

CEO of the Sharks Dr. Ed Coetzee believes that having two sides playing at the same time is good for the growth of the players.

“Building player depth is important, but equally crucial is having coaches in our set-up that can be upskilled and are able to make a seamless transition to the next level," Coetzee said.

"Creating pathways for growth and success is very much within our DNA and these appointments speak to that vision.

“We are confident that Etienne, JP and all the other coaches involved in this campaign will bring the best out of the Currie Cup squad and we remain committed to providing a strong platform for them to thrive."

Lusanda Mtiya has been elected as the manager for the Currie Cup side following years of service to rugby both nationally and in KZN.

“Lusanda’s appointment speaks of The Sharks commitment to provide equal opportunities for women in our sport and her involvement creates gender diversity within the set-up of our rugby structures.

"She is a welcomed addition and will bring a feminine touch and a strong voice to the team environment.”
