Durban City FC Crowned Nedbank Cup Champions

Durban City Football Club has been crowned champions of the Nedbank Cup following a 2-1 victory over TS Galaxy in the final at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Second half goals from Mfanafuthi Mkhize in the 58th minute and Jean Lubumba in the 71st minute secured a historic win for Durban City FC, as the team delivered a commanding performance on one of the biggest stages in South African football.
The victory marks a defining moment in the Club’s history, as Durban City FC lifts its first major trophy in its first season back in the topflight, capping off a remarkable season.
Head Coach Pitso Dladla praised the team’s performance and mentality.
“I am incredibly proud of the players. They showed character, discipline, and belief throughout the match. We stayed focused on the plan and took our moments when they came.”
Club Chairman Farook Kadodia spoke on the importance of the victory.
“This is a landmark moment for Durban City FC and for the people of KwaZulu-Natal. To bring home a major trophy after so many years is something truly special, and it speaks to the vision, hard work, and unity behind this Club.”
Durban City FC extends its sincere gratitude to its supporters, both at home and those who travelled to Polokwane, whose unwavering support played an important role throughout the campaign and on this historic occasion.
