Dolphins end top after another washout
Following a fourth consecutive washout in Group A of the Momentum One Day Cup, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins topped the group with two wins and two shared games ahead of the VKB Knights who have also qualified for the semi-finals.
Rain has been abundant in Potchefstroom throughout the competition with only two matches completed, both of which the Dolphins won which put them firmly in the driver’s seat of their pool.
A bonus point victory over the Momentum Multiply Titans and then a convincing win over the Knights saw them bolt into an early lead.
The Titans versus Knights game was a washout which further handed the Dolphins the advantage and then the subsequent three matches in the group were all washouts due to heavy rain and very little sun to help dry up the Senwes Park outfield.
With thirteen points from the group phase the Dolphins were run-away winners, followed by the Knights who ended on six points while the Titans finished third with five points.
Group B action in the Momentum One Day Cup begins on 22 January at Senwes Park where the Six Gun Grill Cape Cobras, the Imperial Lions and the Warriors battle it out for the other two semi-final spots.
