Blast from the Past - Danie Gerber
Updated | By Andre Bloem
Danie Gerber played only 24 Tests for the Springboks with his career curtailed by the Apartheid system which limited the number of internationals he played in.
Gerber scored 82 points in Test rugby and made his debut against the South American Jaguars in 1980.
His last Test appearance was against New Zealand in 1992.
Gerber, born in 1958, scored two tries in his final Test against the All Blacks.
Gerber also made 115 appearances for Eastern Province and had shorter spells at both Western Province and the Free State.
Gerber was included in the International Rugby Hall of Fame in 2007.
