Zwelinzima Vavi is in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.
The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) General Secretary says he fell ill with the flu on Friday.
"I said that I must test on Saturday, they told me that my temperature is fine. I went back yesterday because I was feeling a little bit worse from the weekend."
"Today they called to say that I am positive. They said I should self-isolate. So I am going exactly that."

He says he is now waiting for his family to be tested.
"My wife has to go for a test, my kids have to be tested, and everybody that has been around me must test."
Vavi says he doesn't know where he could have contacted the virus - but adds that on the day before lockdown - he had a political engagement.
"I had a political ideology meeting before the lockdown and preferably everyone who was there must test just to be on the safe side."
Vavi says he's been told he doesn't require hospitalisation at this stage.
