Zweli Mkhize says this is worrying - and believes fatigue is setting in for many.

He says they've observed little or no social distancing in communities, masks not being worn properly or not at all - and people being lax about frequent hand-washing.

The Minister says government has mobilised every resource to deal with the coronavirus crisis.

But he says we have to do our bit to help the cause - especially now when there's a surge in infections.

He's asking each one of us to stick to the safety recommendations - and says our ability to break the cycle of infection is to remain focussed and disciplined.

The minister's plea comes as more cases and deaths have been reported in the country.

A further 13 285 people have tested positive in the last 24 hours. South Africa has now recorded over 350-thousand infections.

The death toll has risen to 4 948. Our recovery rate has improved slightly to nearly 52 percent.
