Zuma corruption case: Court rules State not liable for legal costs
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The North Gauteng High Court has ruled that the State is not liable to cover the costs in former president, Jacob Zuma's legal bill.
This means that Zuma will have to pay his lawyers from his own wallet.
His defence team is believed to have cost taxpayers between R15-million and R30-million.
The DA and the EFF launched a bid earlier this year challenging the State's decision to keep paying Zuma's legal fees.
He's facing 16 charges, including fraud and corruption, in connection with the controversial arms deal.
Deputy Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba delivered his verdict earlier.
