Zondo inquiry likely to resume in June
The commission of inquiry into state capture is likely to resume its public hearing in the last week of June or the first week of July.
Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo confirmed the dates during a virtual media briefing on Wednesday.
He said although the lockdown brought a temporary halt to the public hearings, the work of the commission has continued with staff working from home.
"It does seem to me that, with the cooperation we are getting from the executive, there is no reason why we should not be able to resume hearings either in the last week of June or first week of July. We are going to make preparations to do that.
"We are proceeding on the basis that our priority is that at least we finish what I call public protector issues. The public protector issues, as reflected in her report, are matters that revolve around the Gupta family and their entities."

Issues which do not fall under the public protector's reports, but are covered in the mandate of the commission, will be attended to as well.
Zondo said in future witness testimony will have to be cut short, and a sharp focus will have to be placed on the important aspects of their statements.
He said this will give the commission more time to deal with more witnesses.
