Woman, 65, killed in La Mercy collision
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
An elderly woman has died while two others sustained serious injuries when two cars collided at the M65 La Mercy airport junction.
It is unclear what caused the two cars to collide last night. When Netcare 911 paramedics and other emergency services arrived they found the 65-year-old woman was still alive but with life threatening injuries.
The services Chris Botha says paramedics did all they can to save her.
"When we arrived there was an elderly lady who had sustained life-threatening injuries. Paramedics managed to extricate her out of the vehicle but she went into cardiac arrest.
"They worked on her for quite some time to try resuscitate her but she was declared dead on the scene. The other two who had sustained serious injures were treated on scene and transported to nearby hospitals," he said.
