Westville pub shooting: Taryn le Roux's husband sentenced to 25 years
Family members say they are relieved the case is finally over, although they believe the sentence was still not severe enough for the crime committed.
Former soldier, Frederick Nicolaas Le Roux will spend 25 years behind bars for the murder of Taryn Le Roux.
The former SANDF Special Forces member pleaded guilty to killing his wife last September.
Pub shooting in Westville
Taryn was shot at a popular pub in Westville.
The Durban High Court previously heard that Frederick Le Roux allegedly told his wife to, “call the police,” before shooting her in the face.
According to evidence before court, he later phoned another person and admitted to the shooting.
The Durban High Court handed down the 25-year sentence on Wednesday.

What were the charges?
Le Roux had faced five charges including murder, three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition.
He was sentenced to 22 years behind bars for murder, three years each for the firearm charges and 12 months for unlawful possession of ammunition.
All counts will run concurrently resulting in an effective sentence of 25 years’ imprisonment.
Family welcomes verdict
Taryn’s niece, Lisa Beresford-Mnyandu, says the family is relieved that justice has finally been served.
“We are happy in a way. Of course, it's not enough in our opinion. We wish he got more or even the death penalty, which doesn't exist in South Africa.
“But overall, we are happy that he got more than what we expected.
“And as for his crying performance [he] can just absolutely go fly a kite. I think we are all super relieved that it's over and it's done. It's finally done.”
