Wentworth temporary housing squatters won't be evicted: MEC
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Department of Human Settlements in KZN says squatters who have illegally occupied temporary housing units in Wentworth, south Durban, won't be forcibly removed.
Several families have been moving into the units since last week, saying they are tired of cramped living conditions.
They have been waiting for the government to complete its refurbishment project at their permanent residences, which began in 2014, but say the project's moving at a snail's pace.

Angry locals shared their frustrations with MEC Sipho Nkosi on Thursday.
He's promised to return to the area next week.
"There is no need for us to evict them, but over and above that, I committed myself that within seven days, I will meet with them so that we discuss how we are going to go about addressing the issues of overcrowding and it is important that it is not only Wentworth that is experiencing that problem."
