WATCH: Group storms Durban CBD, set shops alight

Durban Metro Police have confirmed that two shops have been set alight, in the CBD, by an unknown group of people.

Newswatch understand that 10 people walked through parts of the city centre this morning and told shop owners to close their stores.

Metro police spokesperson, Parbhoo Sewpersad says at this stage, they believe a shop on Joe Slovo Street and another store on Soldiers Way - were targeted with petrol or some other flammable substance:

“It is alleged that a group of ten people, walked into two shops that have been torched. One person arrested from that group; police is investigating further,” Sewpersad said.

“They just walked into the hop and apparent throw petrol and set the place alight. There was a hawkers table set alight.”
