Various eThekwini beaches remain closed
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The eThekwini Municipality says the E.coli levels in the water at six beaches have dropped.
But the beaches will remain closed for now.
Swimming, surfing and fishing are still not allowed at the South, North, Bay of Plenty, Sun Coast, Country Club and Umgeni beaches.
Officials say according to the latest water samples, it's not yet safe for bathers to enter the water.
They've added that work to bring down harmful levels of the bacteria is continuing.
The city says a new transformer's being installed at Johanna Road Sewage pump station. This after abnormal murky water was discharged into the sea from Umgeni River.
The municipality's urged bathers to make use of the city's other beaches in the meantime.
