UPDATE: Stage 2 load shedding scheduled for this afternoon
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Eskom says the national power grid continues to be strained and therefore, has to implement Stage 2 of load shedding this afternoon.
Consumers will experience a disruption to power supply from 4pm and is expected to end at 10pm on Saturday, 1 December 2018. Stage One came into effect this morning.
The power utility says some of their units have not been returned to service.
"Stage 2 calls for 2000MW to be rotationally loadshed at a given period. Loadshedding is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout," the statement reads.

This risk of load shedding remains high for the next four months, the parastatal says.
Residents are being urged to continue conserving energy, by using electricity sparingly during this period and to switch off non-essential lighting and appliances.
#PowerAlert UPDATE: Due to continued pressure on the national grid, #Eskom will implement stage 2 #loadshedding from 4pm to 10pm Today. Apologies for the inconvenience and uncertainty that this is causing. Eskom will continue to provide regular updates on this matter.
