Unrest video evidence presented in Bonginkosi Khanyile bail hearing
The state presented video evidence on Thursday in the Durban Magistrate's Court in opposition of bail for former Fees Must Fall activist Bonginkosi Khanyile.
Khanyile was arrested earlier in August for allegedly inciting the violence in July that claimed the lives of over 300 people and saw widespread looting and damage to property.
In an affidavit the investigating officer in the case, Anton Booysen from the Organised Crime Unit, told the court the investigation is at an advanced stage and that they have a substantial case against Khanyile.

He said Khanyile was involved because he refused to accept the jailing of former president Jacob Zuma.
Five videos of Khanyile were played in court, one of which was taken during the unrest.
In one clip taken at a taxi rank on Warwick Avenue in Durban, the Fees Must Fall activist is heard encouraging the burning of property until Zuma is free.

He is also heard saying the blocking roads must also continue.
Booysen said Khanyile has demonstrated through his actions that it is his nature to be defiant and that there is a likelihood he will not comply with bail conditions if he's released.
The bail hearing continues.
