uMhlanga police station set for massive upgrade
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
A full
revamp is on the cards for the uMhlanga Satellite Police Station following
concerns over the poor state of the facility.

Public Works Minister Dean Macpherson inspected the prefab building during an oversight visit at Umhlanga Rocks on Monday.
"It really is quite horrifying to see how it has literally gone from bad to worse. This has come to a head, this can no longer continue to be as it is."
According to Ward 35 councillor Bradley Singh, the structure, which is used by more than 80 police officers, has become unfit for use, and does not meet basic health and safety standards.
Plans are now underway to introduce security upgrades and construct a permanent building.

Macpherson says Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and Provincial Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi have been briefed about the situation.
"I have actually had a discussion more recently when we were dealing with the issue of the forensic laboratory [and] sorting out a temporary solution that we have done while we now embark on the permanent solution in Pinetown.
"I said to Police Minister Mchunu that one thing I'm determined to do is to sort this police station out."
