Two suspects shot dead by KZN police

Two
suspected criminals have been killed in a shootout with officers in Nkandla, in
northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Police believe they had been planning to carry out a robbery in the town.

SAPS spokesperson, Jay Naicker says they were part of a group of men travelling in three vehicles in the early hours of this morning.
Naicker says officers acted on intelligence.
“At approximately 1.30am this morning, officers intercepted the vehicles in the Nkandla area. A shootout ensued and two suspects were fatally wounded,” said Naicker.
“A total of eleven suspects were eventually arrested by police and firearms were recovered.”

Naicker says explosive devices that the suspects had allegedly been planning to use were also seized.
Five of the suspects were hurt, one of them seriously, when the car they were in overturned as they tried to flee from police.
