Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Two security guards have been arrested for allegedly beating a thief to death in the Hammarsdale area, west of Durban.

The suspects were due to appear in the Mpumalanga Magistrate's Court today. They allegedly beat the victim with iron bars and sticks after he was caught stealing.
SAPS spokesperson, Thulani Zwane is urging community members not to take the law into their own hands.
"They must apprehend the suspect and hand them over to the relevant authorities or to the police so that the police will deal with that person who is suspected to be involved in criminal activities.
"The community members must not take the law into their own hands," Zwane said.
