Two security guards have been killed and another wounded in an apparent attempted robbery at a school in Mpumalanga township, west of Durban.
Authorities say the three men were attacked last night on the premises of Ukusa High School.
According to the Education Department, the assailants approached the security guards last night and demanded access to the school's strong room.
When they told them they did not have the keys for the room, the guards were taken into a classroom and assaulted.
Police say they were alerted to the murders after the guards' bodies were discovered by one of the school staff members this morning.
They found the two deceased guards, aged 30 and 48-years, with assault wounds to the head.
Their bodies were removed from the school a short while ago.
