Two burn to death in KZN north coast crash
Updated | By Natarah Nadesen
Two men have burnt to death in the back of a car that had caught alight after a collision on the N2 past the Mandini Toll Plaza.
It's not yet clear what led to the crash on the Northbound carriageway, which also involved a bakkie.
IPSS Medical Rescue's Paul Herbst says when they arrived on the scene this morning, the driver of the car immediately requested help for the two passengers in the backseat.
"The driver of the light motor vehicle came to the paramedics and informed them that there were two of his colleagues in the backseat severely entrapped. The vehicle was well alight," he says.
Herbst says local firefighters worked to extinguish the flames. He explains what could've caused the passengers to become trapped in the wreckage.
"Apparently both vehicles were travelling on the northbound lane towards Richards Bay. The light motor vehicle has got impact on the back right hand side of the vehicle. The guys are still very traumatised," he says.
