Two black rhinos taken to Chad have died
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
Two black rhinos that were translocated from South Africa to Chad earlier this year have died in the north-central African country.

In a joint statement, our government and authorities there confirmed the deaths of the male and female rhinos.
Environmental Affairs spokesperson, Albi Modise says the animals were not poached.
"The exact cause of the death is not yet known. A specialist veterinarian has been dispatched and is now on the scene in the Zakouma National Park to conduct a postmortem."
They were among a group of six black rhinos translocated in May, as part of an effort to re-introduce the species in the Zakouma National Park.
