Twitter reacts to Miss Universe blunder
Social media has had a field day after talk show host Steve Harvey announced the wrong contestant as Miss Universe 2015. See some of the funniest memes shared on social media.
During the pageant held in Las Vegas last night, Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Columbia - Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo - as successor which meant the remaining contestant Miss Phillippines - Pia Alonzo Wurzbach - would take the second runner up spot.
The comedian then announced that he had in fact made a mistake after Miss Columbia received the crown, a bouquet of flowers and graced the stage.
The comedian, who hosted the event for the first time, has since apologised both during the event and on social media.
While Wurzbach has been quoted as saying “It’s a very non-traditional crowning moment, isn’t it? It’s very, very 2015." in a video posted on the Miss Universe organisation's Twitter feed.
