Truck driver flees scene of Verulam crash

Police are currently searching for the driver of a truck who fled the scene of an accident in Verulam, north of Durban this morning.
The driver allegedly skipped a red light at the intersection of Palmview and the R102.
The vehicle then crashed into four vehicles, injuring 11 people.

Reaction Unit's Prem Balram says their helicopter was used to try and track down the driver.
"After an extensive search over a dense bush the driver was spotted. He fled into a river and under a bridge and disappeared. Reaction officers searched the area, but he was not arrested," he said.
Balram says no other details on the driver are available at this stage.

Police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says they are trying to track him down.
