Three killed, 60 injured in collision between bus, car and bakkie near Underberg
In the third such accident in KZN since yesterday, three people have been killed and more than 60 others injured following a collision between a bus, car and a bakkie near Underberg.
The latest crash happened on the R617 this morning - about 10 kilometres outside the town. Netcare 911's Athlenda Mathe says the three people who died had been travelling in the car.
"The passengers from the bus as well as the bakkie sustained moderate to minor injuries. We can confirm that they were stabilized on scene by Netcare 911 paramedics, KZN EMRS, as well as another service provider," she said.
"They were then transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care," Mathe said.
Yesterday, more than 100 school children were hurt in two separate horror crashes involving buses in the south of the province.
In the first accident, a bus transporting pupils from the Umgungundlovu District overturned on the R603 in Umbumbulu.
Last night, another bus carrying school girls from Durban and several teachers also overturned on the N2 in Amanzimtoti.
