Police say a second suspect was arrested last week.

The 31-year-old suspect will be in the dock with the 48-year-old man who was arrested the same day Snegugu Mthembu's body was found at the Jika Joe Informal Settlement two weeks ago.

Snegugu was buried on Saturday in the Eastern Cape.

Family friend, Chiara Ray says the child's mother can't cope with being in the area where her daughter was killed.

"We did see her body on Tuesday at the Jika Joe informal settlement. It was a very hard time. I couldn't be there but I'm told that Joyce couldn't see her child's body."

Ray says the child's mother is just devastated.

"It's hanging in her mind constantly. She said to us - 'please help, I can't live here. I can't'," she said.
