Three suspected robbers have been shot and killed during a shootout with police in Reservoir Hills, west of Durban.
Law enforcement officers swooped in after receiving reports that the group was planning to rob a house in the area.
KZN police spokesperson Jay Naicker said officers spotted their vehicle on Friday afternoon but were met by a hail of bullets.
"Two firearms were recovered. Police officers also found a grenade in the vehicle. Two police officers were grazed by the bullets on the head during the shootout. The two members were treated on the scene by paramedics," said Naicker.

"Further investigation revealed that these suspects were wanted for a spate of cash-in-transit robbery cases going as far back as 2021.
"Investigations are ongoing to determine if there are any other cases in which the suspects were involved in. The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistics tests."
