Support for Springboks despite World Cup defeat
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
There's been an outpouring of support for the Springboks from fans, despite their 2 point loss to New Zealand in the first Rugby World Cup semi-final.
The two sides played at Twickenham last night. The final score was 20-18.
South Africans have praised the Boks – with many saying they put up a good fight.
Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer has admitted the boys weren't as disciplined in the second half, which might've cost them the game.
"I have said discipline is the most important, especially in these rainy conditions. That was the difference. We had one penalty that was turned around - that could have been the difference, but no excuses. I really felt we wanted to make our country proud but we did not. We should have pulled this one off. All credit to the All Blacks - they are a quality side", Meyer said.
"I just want to thank all the people who showed us support. I am really sorry we let them down", he added.
The All Blacks will now meet the winner of the Argentina - Australia semi-final, to played later today.
The Springboks will play the loser of today's match in a third-place play-off on Friday.
