Ramaphosa has been responding to questions from MPs in the National Assembly this afternoon.

He says South Africa has over 700 state entities and not all of them are in crisis.

''The majority of them are doing very well, extremely well. Some of them are even able to pay a dividend to the fiscus. A few of these state- owned enterprises are operating in difficult markets. I can think of the airlines and the Post Office,'' he said.

Ramaphosa was also grilled on the impact of the new visa requirements. The recent drop in the tourism numbers has been attributed to the new regulations.

DA leader Mmusi Maimane says government knew there would be consequences.

''Your government was warned about these consequences. We knew up-front the fact that this will result in job losses. The numbers that have been used to justify the security measures have been overly inflated.

''There's been no audit on in fact what the level of security threats is that required these visa regulations,'' he said.

Ramaphosa says the matter is being dealt with.
