State Capture Inquiry secretary takes special leave over corruption claims

The secretary of the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture has taken special leave over claimshe received a bribe from Bosasa while he was COO of the Justice Department.
News24 reported on the allegations today, being made by former Bosasa COO Angelo Agrizzi against Dr Khotso De Wee.
Agrizzi claims he was told that De Wee was among the senior officials in the department, who were bribed by Bosasa through a middleman in 2008, in exchange for the awarding of a contract to a Bosasa subsidiary to secure the country's courts.
In a statement commission chairperson, Justice Raymond Zondo says Agrizzi has indicated he has no other information to back up the claim.

Zondo says while De Wee has confirmed he was the Justice Department's COO at the time in question - he's denied ever receiving any cash payments from Bosasa or any other individual linked to the facilities management company.
Justice Zondo says the commission's investigators are investigating the claims. He says De Wee has offered to step aside to allow this to happen.
Justice Zondo says an Acting Commission Secretary will be appointed next week.
