Spring tide warning for beachgoers
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Bathers across the country are warned to be extra cautious over the next ten days as the build up to the full moon spring tide begins.
Sea Rescue's Craig Lambinon says at this time a stronger than normal rip current will be present along the coast for the next ten days.
He explains that this tide brings a higher than normal high tide and a lower than normal low tide.
"We ask the anglers and bathers to be cautious because they'll start to experience the stronger than normal rip current brought upon by this phenomenon, which will peak on Christmas Day.
"The spring tide happens twice every month, at full moon and again at new moon," he said.
