Ramaphosa's spokesperson, Khusela Diko says the message is a simple one."South Africa is not a xenophobic country. Yes indeed, the people of the country are facing a number of socio-economic challenges [and] there has been a high prevalence of crime over the last few weeks," she said.
Diko says the crime seen in recent weeks is a backlash against the challenges facing many poor South Africans.
