South Africa's COVID-19 cases edge towards 500 000

A jump in new COVID-19 infections has moved us closer to the half-a-million mark.
Just over 11 000 cases have been recorded in the last 24-hours, taking the country's number of confirmed infections to 482 000.

More than 309 000 people have beat the virus.
Health Minister Zweli Mhize says they've recorded another 315 deaths since Wednesday, taking the country's death toll to 7 812.
As of today, a cumulative total of 482 169 confirmed COVID-19 cases in SA have been recorded with 11046 new cases identified. Number of tests conducted to date is 2 918 049. number of deaths to 7 812.
