South Africa reacts to another stellar Ndlovu Youth Choir Performance

Prominent South African figures are marvelling the final performance of the Ndlovu Youth Chair at the 'America’s Got Talent’ finale.

The choir from Moutse Valley in rural Limpopo performed a moving tribute to Africa that yielded a resounding round of applause from the American audience and a standing ovation from the show’s judges.

Massages have been streaming in on social media the entire morning. 

Taking to Twitter, President Cyril Ramaphosa tweeted: “Watching @ChoirAfrica’s final performance on @AGT filled me with immense pride & hope for the future. Our star always shines the brightest when we showcase who we truly are as South Africans. Wishing the #NdlovuYouthChoir the very best. In our eyes you are already winners.”

Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa added: “There's no doubt that one of the greatest highlights of 2019 has been the outstanding contribution @ChoirAfrica has made in representing our country on @AGT. We wish you all the best for your finale tonight. We are behind you, go out there & shine!”

Former talk show host Felicia Mabuza-Suttle, who has been closely following the choir’s journey, tweeted: “#NdlovuYouthChoir gave it their all! Its all in the hands of America to vote for #ubuntu.”

News broadcaster LeanneManas said: “@ChoirAfrica you will never know how much happiness, pride, hope and love you have filled us South Africans with over this time! You have won either way.”


Lawyer and social media activist Tumi Sole said: “@ChoirAfrica properly shut down the finals!”

The winner of the 14th season of America’s Got Talent will be announced on Thursday, 19 September at 02:00 am South African time.
