Some KZN train services back on track following floods
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) says some train services in KwaZulu-Natal are up and running again.
Services were disrupted after critical infrastructure was damaged in the April floods.
Commuters are now making use of a limited-service between Durban and Merebank.
Prasa's Andiswa Makanda says Transet's repaired the lines along the north coast corridor as well.
"Meanwhile, final preparations are underway to restore services between Dalbridge and Tongaat, and KwaMashu and Dalbridge. The recovery of these lines forms part of our efforts to recover more services that were suspended either due to vandalism and theft or the floods that hit KwaZulu-Natal recently."

"The resumption of services will be a huge relief to our commuters who rely on our cost-effective services."
She says security on sections of the northern corridor will be placed on high alert after signalling cables and rail assets worth over R3.5 million were stolen or vandalised, and peace officers attacked.
Nineteen suspects have been arrested so far after police carried out a raids at nearby informal settlements.
