Siam Lee case to be transferred to Durban High Court

The man accused of kidnapping and murdering Durban North woman, Siam Lee earlier this year will stand trial before a judge.

The accused, who cannot be named until he tenders a plea because of the charges he faces, made a brief appearance in the Durban Magistrate's Court today.

He also faces an unrelated charge of rape.

Today's appearance was the first since the man was released on R40,000 bail back in June.

Public Prosecutor, Roshiela Benimadho told the magistrate that the case will be be transferred to the Durban High Court.

The accused appeared in the dock today looking somewhat different to when he was last in court.

He has since shaved his head and appears to have lost weight.

The red blazer he was wearing hung from his shoulders.

The case has been adjourned until November for the indictment to be served.

Siam Lee was kidnapped from outside an alleged brothel in Durban North in January.

A massive city-wide search was launched after her mother, Carmen Nan Lee made a desperate plea for her safe return.

The search ended after Lee's badly burnt body was found in a sugarcane field in New Hanover in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.
