Shivambu says still MKP member, weighs forming party
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Floyd Shivambu has denied reports that he had left the uMkhonto weSizwe Party.
"I have not resigned from uMkhonto weSizwe and I will never resign from uMkhonto weSizwe and I am a member," he told journalists in Gauteng on Thursday.
The party removed him as secretary-general and demoted him to an ordinary member of parliament following his trip to Malawi to visit wanted fugitive Pastor Shepherd Bushiri.
Shivambu has revealed that he will now hold a nationwide consultation to decide whether to form a political party.

" If uMkhonto weSizwe believes that going to listen to the people violates the Constitution, it'll tell me that listening to the people is a violation of the Constitution. I'll not resign. I said I'll never resign from uMkhonto weSizwe, and I still stick by the decision and the communication that I made, that it was the best decision ever to join uMkhonto weSizwe."
The uMkhonto weSizwe Party distanced itself from the press briefing.
Party leader Jacob Zuma this weekend warned that MKP will not tolerate wrongdoing by anyone, including senior members.
