Severe thunderstorms expected in parts of KZN

Disaster Management teams have been dispatched to several areas in the province after the SA Weather Service said there's a possibility of severe thunderstorms today.
Forecaster Stacey Colborn says the alert is for areas in southern and western KZN.
This would include Durban, Pietermaritzburg all the way through to Ladysmith and Newcastle.
Stretching all the way to the Drakensberg, this also includes Underberg, Kokstad for today.
At this stage, it's still a watch it has not been updated to a warning as yet. At the moment there is no thunderstorm activity development but forecasters are expecting it later this afternoon."
Snow is also expected in the Drakensberg.

Local government spokesperson, Senzo Mzila says localised flooding, strong damaging winds and hail are expected due to the inclement weather.
Cogta MEC, Sipho Hlomuka, has dispatched teams across the various districts which include Ugu, Harry Gwala, uMgungundlovu, uThukela, uMzinyathi, Amajuba Districts and the eThekwini Metro, which are some of the area's expected to be affected by the inclement weather conditions.
"We are appealing to all residents especially those that are part of essential services and might be using our roads tomorrow to exercise extreme caution. Our teams will be monitoring a number of areas that are prone to weather-related incidents such as flooding so that they can respond quicker," said Mzila.
